It was a great night at SCS for our first ever homecoming football game. The night had a little bit of everything and a great family feel. The Blazers have only played at home four times, but the atmosphere and excitement on and off the field has been tremendous. The Booster Club was giving out free food and water to go along with the full concession stand, food trucks, and a good amount of tailgating.
The Blazers started out slow and trailed 7-0 in the early minutes of a very long 1st quarter that would see 5 touchdowns scored between the two teams. It turned out to be a back and forth game of big plays all night long. The first score was set up by yet another big forth down conversion by the Blazers as
Randall Collins brought in the 25 yard pass and
Austin Kerle would find the endzone on an 11 yard run the next play.
Travis Miller and
Colton Loftus would each find the endzone in the 1st half, which gave the Blazers a 21-13 half time lead.
The defense came up with stops and big plays when they needed them against a tough rushing attack by Four Corners. The Coyotes would rush for 358 yards on the night as they racked up 4 rushing touchdowns. Most of the time it was
Daniel Jacinto bringing them down with a Blazer record 18 tackles.
Triston Loftus,
Carson Spenn and
Trey Featherston all came up with big plays in the Coyotes backfield to stop drives.
The Coyotes would stay close all night but never regain the lead. They were able to tie the game in the middle of the third but the Blazers would answer with three TDs and put the game away.
Ben Milliken had another great night through the air as the Blazers continue to lead the state in passing. Ben was 18 of 31 for 405 yards and 4 TDs. He now has 2,291 yards on the season and 27 TDs. The Blazers are completing over 60% of their passes to a host of targets. Seven Blazers caught passes on Friday Night.
The Blazers will have a bye next week, but will be back on the field for the final home game against Real Life Christian on October 28 before heading into the SSAC Playoffs the following week.
