New Blazer Information

SCS offers 18 athletic programs, that participate in 15 sports and are made up of 39 teams. 75% of our students at the MS and HS level are on at least one team and our team of over 50 coaches lead them as they compete in over 400 athletic contests each year. Here are the first steps in becoming a Blazer.
  1. We believe in coaching with an eternal purpose and encourage all our new Blazers to read through our core values and coaching philosophy.
  2. All athletes are required to have a new physical each year, an electrocardiogram screening once during their high school years, and other forms submitted yearly through Athletic Clearance before they can participate in any capacity. Click here for more details about Athletic Clearance. We are working with Dr. Sherry Shamp & Dr. Joseph Shamp from Wilkinson Chiropractic Care to provide physicals for $25 & electrocardiogram screenings for $25 here at the school on four separate dates during the summer. Physical & Electrocardiogram Screening dates: June 3rd from 1-3pm, June 12th from 12-2pm, June 15th from 12-2pm, July 15th from 1-3pm. We currently have slots for 64 students on the four dates. Please follow this link to signup.
  3. Parents and Athletes should read the Athletic Handbook.
  4. Athletic participation does require an additional fee per sport. The typical fee are: High School Sport $125 (Football is $175) and Middle School Sports: $100. Cheerleading fees vary.
  5. Contact information for coaches along with quick facts about each program can be found on the pages for each program at the links below.
  6. SportsYou is the official communications platform of Blazer Athletics. Please join us in our Blazer Nation group with code LYM9PPVF, where you'll find information for all team tryouts. Athletes and parents will be added to a team's group at the start of the season after you have become part of that team.
  7. Most varsity sports have open gyms/fields or team activities over the summer. Please contact head varsity coaches directly for this information for all levels in their programs.
  8. Summer camps are available for most sports at the Elementary and MS level. Some high school sports have camps as well. Click here for a full list of camps.
  9. Blazer Strong is our summer strength and conditioning program for all athletes going into 6th grade and above. Incoming sixth-eighth graders will train Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 9:30am-10:30am, while incoming ninth-twelfth graders will train four days a week, with the boys session being from 8:00am-9:30am and girls session being from 8:30am-10:00am. Blazer Strong runs for 8 weeks in the summer and will begin in the weight room each morning. The cost for Blazer Strong is $50 for incoming middle school athletes and $75 for incoming high school athletes. Click here to register (athletes do not need to attend all days).
  10. The Blazer Way is our annual leadership training for HS athletes. It is an all day event that usually takes place the last Friday in July. Click here to register.
  11. Tryouts - about a third of our sports have competitive tryouts depending on the interest level that year.
