Blazer football heads to Jacksonville this afternoon to take on the Defenders of Old Plank Christian Academy as Head Coach
Jacob Spenn enters into his 15th season as a varsity head coach. Both schools made the jump from 8-man to 11-man football this past year and the Blazers will look to make a splash early to put the Defenders on their back foot.
Ben Milliken makes his comeback from spending most of last year on the sidelines with a knee injury that sidelined the Junior quarterback for almost half of the season last year. Despite the setback, Milliken threw for over 1000 yards and 13 touchdowns. Milliken has a strong group surrounding him. At receiver the Blazers are the strongest we've ever been with Juniors
Travis Miller,
Justin Brock, and
Colton Loftus, each entering into their third season catching passes from Milliken.
Randall Collins will slide into a tight end role as he comes back for his senior year after a team leading 10 touchdowns last season. Defensively the Blazers will be led by a strong senior front with
Carson Spenn,
Ethan Jackson, and
Trey Featherston, pushing into the backfield after the quarterback. At the second level, sophomore
Daniel Jacinto returns at linebacker and will be tough to get around again this year after recording 130 tackles and 110 tackles in the past two seasons. Joining him will be sophomore transfer Jack Keenen, a transfer from Cardinal Mooney that has shown a lot of promise at the linebacker position during 7-on-7 and last weeks scrimmage in which he recorded an interception. In the secondary,
Noah Spenn will control the defense. With a high football IQ and desire to watch as much film as possible, Spenn will be a great asset to the defense as they move to a game with more players and more field to cover.
