The Blazer defense was out standing and SCS out gained the King's through the air and on the ground but could not overcome 5 turnovers. The Blazers lost for the first time this year to go to 3-1 on the season. SCS scored first when
Justin Brock connected with
Noah Spenn who stretched out to the pylon for a 10 yard TD. The Kings would tie it up on the next drive and then scored on two pick 6's to take a 21 - 7 lead at half time.
The defense forced two turnovers and held the King's to 194 yards while the Blazers gained 293. The King's would score 28 points on turnovers and special teams as the defense only gave up one score.
Alex Basilio-Dominguez had 11 tackles and
Shawn Georgiades had 9.
Carson Fulcher,
Alex Basilio-Dominguez and
Travis Miller were all in on sacks.
Noah Spenn had an interception and
Tristan McConnell Haas recovered a fumble.
The Blazer took the opening kickoff of the second half and put together a solid drive primally out of the backfield with
William Hughes and
Elijah George. The TD would come when
Justin Brock found
Colton Loftus. Just minutes later Brock would run in another score to close the gap to 20-21 late in the third. The Blazers had a couple more chances with the best one coming after the Spenn interception just prior to a lightning delay. A late 4th down play resulted in the final interception of the night and one last King's score to make it 20-35.
Next week the Blazers will travel to Cambridge Christian on Friday for a 7pm kickoff at Skyway Park. The Lancers are 2-2 on the season including a win last week over Orangewood Christian. They also defeated St. Stephans 14-13. They have lost to Keswick and ODA both of whom are on the Blazers schedule later in the year.
