Blazer of the Year-Chrissy Cooper

The Blazer of the Year Award recognizes a male and female, sophomore or older, who is committed to building great teams. They are encouragers and competitors. These student-athletes do not follow the crowd, they are leaders. They have the conviction to stay focused and press on, when others would simply quit or take an easy way out. In short, they are great teammates that set a Christ-like example for all to follow. They live out our core values of and represent the qualities of a true Blazer athlete.

Our female Blazer of the year models our core values more than anyone else. She technically is a part of five sport seasons, beginning with Cheer and Football in the fall, then navigating through cheer and basketball in the winter, before finishing off the school year with tennis in the spring. Throughout it all, she is uplifting everyone around her and the first to congratulate her teammates.  Her coaches had this to say about her.

Coach Audrey, "Chrissy is a joy to coach. She works hard and cares about her teammates. I can always count on her to know exactly what is going on during games and will miss having her leadership. There is no one with more school spirit."
Coach Tedder had this to say, "Chrissy has been an integral part of the tennis program since 9th grade. She supports everyone on her team during matches and practices. Whenever someone finishes a match, she is always the first person to meet them coming off the court to provide encouragement in defeats or praise in victories. She is a great example of what a teammate and a leader looks like."

From Coach Corwin, "Chrissy is the athlete that you want to have on every team and in every program. She gives you 100% every time out. She is the first to congratulate her teammates. She celebrates everyone's successes. As a captain for two years, she provided leadership in the way she carried herself, communicated to her teammates, and encouraged her team including coaches no matter the outcome of the game. Chrissy is a great example of what an SCS Blazer student-athlete should set out to be. She has helped create the standard for girls basketball."

From Coach Spenn, "She has served the football program by helping with water and other needs for the past four years at practices and games. She represents the core value of servant leadership in so many ways and will be greatly missed."
