Male Athlete of the Year-Justin Brock

The Athlete of the Year Award is given annually to a male and female athlete. These athletes display dominance in their sport and often in multiple sports. They set a high standard for commitment and work ethic. They are great competitors who are striving to get better and pushing their teammates to do the same. They have demonstrated athletic excellence on the fields and courts of Sarasota Christian School.

The 2026 Male Athlete of the Year is a student that excelled at three sports this year. Whether he was throwing passes or catching them on the football field, being the calming force behind the basketball team's run to a district championship, or leading off and playing centerfield on the baseball diamond, he was a solid competitor that never let up. His coaches had the following to say about him:

From Coach Bruinsma, "I met Justin when he was in sixth grade. He was the best athlete at the school then. He has the unique ability to do things fairly effortlessly, that others may strain or struggle to do. In one football game that I watched this year, he played six different positions in the same game. In basketball, he only played one position, but he never came out! He was our Point Guard and he ran the show. He has such a calming presence for everyone, and people gravitated toward him because of it. Some athletes do so many positive things that the majority of people don't notice, that make the game so much easier for everyone else. That's him. He allows everyone around him to excel because of all the little things he is able to do for the team. He is a tremendous athlete and person, and The Football, Basketball, and Baseball teams will miss him even more than they realize right now when practices & games start next year."

From Coach White, "Justin's leadership, consistency at the plate, and strong defensive play made him a key contributor to his team's success throughout the season."

From Coach Spenn, "He is one of the best athletes I have had the opportunity to coach. He can just naturally do so many things regardless of the sport. In so many moments over the past 4 years he was the spark that lead to a Blazer victory but what I might remember most is a conversation about starting a team bible study this year that has turned into something special. I have loved watching him play regardless of the sport."
