The Scholar Athlete Torch Award honors a male and female, junior or senior, athlete that has shown excellence in both the classroom and in athletic competition. The time commitment to maintain outstanding academics and excellent athletic skills is staggering and we want to recognize students for that ability. Both of our winners have weighted GPA's above 4.0. Additional consideration is given to students that are noted by others to exemplify our core values and the four pillars of the mission of SCS in showing a Love for Christ, Passion to Learn, Courage to Lead and Commitment to Serve.

Our female scholar athlete torch award winner was a strong leader on the court and in the classroom. She is always looking to get better, whether it's in how she completes a problem in class or in learning a new skill to apply in her sports.
From Coach K, "She is a joy to coach and a hard worker on and off the court. She was always willing to serve her team, even when it wasn't her assigned job. She will go far and I am so proud of all she has accomplished."

From Russ Campbell, "I had the pleasure to work with her in Cross Country for the past two years as well as in the classroom this year in my Statistics class. She brings a delightful effect to everything she does! Her positivity and kind heart are infectious! She is an extremely hard worker both with her running and in the classroom. She gives her best every day, takes feedback well, and applies that feedback to get better. She is a supportive teammate and classmate and finds a way to encourage others and make the group better!"

From Coach Corwin, "Her dedication in the classroom and in competition has made her a true example of what it means to be a student-athlete. She consistently demonstrates leadership, integrity, and perseverance while maintaining excellence academically and athletically. As the recipient of the Scholar Athlete Torch Award, she represents the highest standard of our core values: love, trust, commitment and grit, respect and honor, and servant leadership, inspiring those around her both on and off the court. She has left a legacy in our basketball program for future student-athletes to strive to reach."

She is a great representation of Sarasota Christian and our Athletic Department.The Female Scholar Athlete Torch Award goes to Octavia Stoller.
