The Blazers got off to a fast start with an interception by Tristan McConnell Haas on the second play form scrimmage and Elijah George found the endzone from one hard out. The first TD was set up by a 24 yard run by William Hughes and it gave the Blazers an early 7-0 lead. Canterbury would bounce back and get their ground game going and scored twice in the opening quarter. On the night both teams ran the ball the well on the night with the Cougars gaining the advantage 285 to 174. Both teams scored in the 2nd with Hughes finding the endzone on another short run. Hughes rushed for 98 yards on 14 carries for the Blazers. Just seconds before the half ended Tait Zeltwanger completed a 43 yard touchdown strike to Cale Zeltwanger in a spectacular play that was called back. The Blazers trailed 14-20 at half but came out with a strong drive to start the 3rd and held a 21-20 lead until the early 4th quarter. 

Canterbury really got the run game going and a couple Blazer turnovers and a blocked punt changed the momentum quickly. The Blazers had one last promising drive but an incredible sideline catch by Noah Spenn was ruled out of bounds and effectively ended the comeback. "The 4th got away from us quickly and certainly was a frustrating end to what had been a solid night." Coach Spenn continued, "They are a good team and we will learn from it and get better. We have a big game at home next week as we take on the Falcons."

Matthew Manyak recorded a ack for the blazers along with 6 tackles. Wyatt Campbell had 10 tackles and Peyton Gray had 9 for the defense. Defensive ends Evan Rowden and Elliot Wagler each had 7. Eli Ford broke up a couple passes and had 5 tackles.The full stats are in the links below.

The Blazers will return home  to host St. Stephan's on Friday night at 7pm. The Falcons are 2-0 to start the season.
