Coach Newhouse grew up in Harrisonburg, VA, and have been on the softball field since she was four years old. She began in little league and transitioned into travel ball. Early on, she played a variety of positions - both infield and outfield, but quickly discovered that my true passion was catching. She played JV softball as an eighth grader and went on to play all four years of Varsity at Eastern Mennonite High School.
Her team won the State championship during her sophomore year and advanced to the regional finals her senior year. After high school, she attended Eastern Mennonite University, where she studied elementary education and played softball for two years. Unfortunately, due to injuries, she was unable to complete her college playing career.
After moving to Florida, she continued to grow her love for the game through slow-pitch softball, competing at a high level and ranking as high as the AA Conference division. Her passion for the sport remains strong today as she has enjoyed helping coach her son's little league team and continuing to play in local leagues.
As a coach, her heart is to help young athletes grow in their skills and confidence, but also in their faith. She believes that sports are a powerful avenue for teaching teamwork and character that reflect Christ both on and off the field.
This will be Coach Newhouse's first year coaching at SCS. She also serves as the Admissions Director at SCS. She and her husband Cameron have two sons, Luke is a 3rd grader at SCS.
