Jon Allen

Coach Jon Allen is in his 2th season as the Varsity Head Golf Coach at Sarasota Christian School.

Jon graduated from Shiloh Hills Christian School (GA) in 2015. During his time as a Challenger, Jon was ranked second in program history for points scored, first in three pointers, first in free throw percentage, first in points per game, and first in blocks. Jon was a 1st team All-Tournament for 2 years and was named MVP both of those years. During his high school career, Jon was a 3 time tournament MVP.

Jon's successful high school career then led him to Trinity Baptist College in Jacksonville, FL where he played one year of intercollegiate basketball. In that year the Eagles made it to the NCCAA national championship. Jon was named player of the year and led the Eagles in rebounds, blocks, and charges taken.

After his freshman year of playing college basketball, Jon went back to his alma mater as an assistant coached. Jon and the new head coach turned the program around by winning the region tournament his first year. In year 2, the team went 27-3 and won the state tournament.

After 2 years of coaching, Jon went to school in Greenville, SC and walked on to play NCCAA D2/ NCAA D-3 college basketball for 2 years at Bob Jones University. As a Bruin, Jon led the team in minutes played, assists, and blocks during his first season. He won the “Heart of Bruin” award, an award given for servant leadership.

Through that time as a basketball athlete, golf became another big passion for him during COVID in 2020. Playing with his brother and cousin got him excited about this sport, and from there, his love for the game just kept growing. That experience pushed him to keep learning and improving, and he's really seen how much the game has taken off in recent years. Now, he wants to help give younger kids the same chance to fall in love with the game and play it at a high level. Coach Allen is excited for his second season and excited to keep growing, mentoring, and developing not just great athletes—but athletes who live for Christ.

Jon is very thankful to be a Coach and be an example of Christ to his players. The experiences throughout his life have shaped him to be the coach he is today, which has only been through the help of Christ. Jon's life verse is "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ." - 2 Corinthians 1:3-5
