The Blazers soccer team continued their upward trend on Friday night, tying the Universal Academy of Florida Falcons 2-2. After a strong defensive start, the Blazers defense was broken by a through ball from the Falcons. The Falcons left wing did not miss on his opportunity, giving them a 1-0 lead after 25 minutes. The spirit of the Blazers did not flicker, but instead they pushed harder. After creating several chances over the next few minutes, the Blazers drew a penalty kick, where Judah Avery finished the job, tying the game at 1 apiece. The game continued to feel pressure on each side, with both offenses looking strong. With 5 minutes to go in the first half, a chip shot beat goalkeeper Isaiah Ledford, putting the Falcons up 2-1 at halftime.

Coach Ford gave an impassioned speech at the break, encouraging the Blazers to continue following the plan set before them, and to not waver from their strategy. "Win these next 40 minutes," has been the perpetual message given to the Blazers this year, and that was the mindset going into the second half. The offense seemed to work as one cohesive unit throughout the half, creating several opportunities to finish. With 8 minutes to go, the Blazers finally broke through, with Austin Kerle hitting the top left corner, tying the match at 2. For the Blazers, this was their first live action goal in almost 300 minutes of play. The Blazers then went into defensive mode, with Ira Jackson and Caleb Byerly finishing the game strong, keeping the score locked at 2 when the final whistle blew. Ira showed his heart, playing the entirety of the game without a rest. This leadership continues to push the team in the right direction, as they still search for their first win of the season.

A shorthanded Blazers team fell to a strong Cambridge Christian the following morning. The Blazers will play their next game against the Family Christian Academy Mustangs on Tuesday.
