The Sarasota Christian Blazers took on the Family Christian Academy Mustangs Tuesday afternoon. The Blazers struggled early, falling behind 2-0 after 30 minutes. Despite this, the Blazers controlled play, creating multiple opportunities to score early. Finally, with 5 minutes left in the first half,
Judah Avery narrowed the Blazers deficit to 1. Just 2 minutes later,
Donovan Beita tied the game at 2 with his first goal of the season. The Blazers entered the second half with all of the momentum. The 2-2 score changed to a 3-2 lead soon after the start of the second half, with Donovan finishing a cross from
Isaiah Ledford for his second goal of the game. Just minutes after, Isaiah got himself his first goal of the season, giving the Blazers a 4-2 lead, with 4 goals in 10 minutes of play. At the 55th minute,
Judah Avery made a strong play, scoring off of a volley, to give the Blazers a 5-2 lead. The Blazers continued to pour it on, with
Wyatt Campbell scoring two goals, as well as
Jack Ford and
Austin Kerle each putting in one each. The defense had a strong second half, led by
Ira Jackson and
Caleb Byerly. Goalkeeper
Ethan Jackson held the Mustangs to just one goal in the second half. For the Blazers, this was the strongest game of the season, with them walking away with a 9-3 victory over the Mustangs.
With their record up to 1-6-1 on the season, the Blazers have two more games this week, playing Grace Christian on Thursday, and the TCA Patriots on Friday, looking for redemption from their 1-0 loss to the Patriots earlier this season.
