The Blazers boys soccer team came into a game against the TCA Patriots with a record of 0-3-0. They were ready to show that they would continue fighting for the entirety of the season. As the game began, it was clear this would be a gritty game on both sides. Evenly matched, these two teams traded punches throughout the first half. Both teams had multiple opportunities to punch in the first goal of the game, yet neither team found the ability to do so, going into the halftime tied 0-0.
Coach Ford continued to preach to the players a game of effort, toughness, and heart. The second half began the same way the first did. A quick paced game fought north to south much more than east to west, with both teams constantly pushing to net. Both teams recorded multiple shots in the first 20 minutes of the second half, but neither goalie would budge. With 15 minutes to go,
Jack Ford and
Donovan Beita pushed a two on one towards the goal. Beita fired a shot towards the bottom left corner, but the Patriot goalie made a phenomenal save to keep the game tied. Using this momentum, the Patriots created a few more opportunities, finally beating goalkeeper
Isaiah Ledford in the 72nd minute.
The Blazers were left with 8 minutes to try to gain a draw. The Patriots did a good job of controlling the possession for the final 8 minutes, with the game ending in a 1-0 loss for the Blazers. The Blazers showed major growth in this game, but are still looking for their first win of the yar, falling to 0-4-0 on the season.
