The Athlete of the Year Award is given annually to a male and female senior. These athletes display dominance in their sport and often in multiple sports setting a high standard for commitment and work ethic. They are great competitors who are striving to get better and pushing their teammates to get better with them. Hailey Knepp is the 2002 Female Athlete of the Year. Hailey was a three sport athlete at SCS playing on the varisty Volleyball, Basketball and Beach Volleyball teams. She will continue her athletic career as a volleyball player for North Greenville University. 

Coach Jordan had this to say about Hailey, "Hailey Knepp was an offensive powerhouse this season for volleyball leading the team in points with nearly 350 kills and 50 aces. She was nominated for the All-Area Volleyball Team and was a critical component in leading the school to its best record in school history. Her hours of dedication to the sport of Volleyball have earned her the opportunity to play collegiately at a school she loves - North Greenville University."
 
Coach Scholl shared his thoughts from the basketball perspective by saying, "The varsity girls basketball coaches and players were thrilled to welcome back Hailey Knepp to the team for her senior season.  Hailey played the post position with confidence, averaging 8 points and nearly 8 boards a game to help the Lady Blazers to a winning season and a FHSAA Regional Quarterfinal berth.  She worked hard every day, played physical at both ends of the court, finished well at the rim in transition, and even tossed in a couple 3-point shots for good measure throughout the season. On Senior Night, Hailey poured in a career high 24 points and was a perfect 4 for 4 from the free throw line.  Hailey's fun spirit and outstanding athleticism playing basketball for the Lady Blazers was a blessing to us all."
