Blazers Soar to Victory Against the Eagles

The Blazers soccer team beat the SMA Eagles 4-2 in a very tough game on Friday night. The Blazers started out strong with Donovan Beita scoring an early penalty kick against the Eagles goalkeeper. He then followed up with another goal later in the first quarter. Midway through the first half the eagles got a free kick right outside the box and manage to score a goal, making the score 2-1 Blazers at the half. In the second half Donovan scored his third goal of the game making it 3-1. Late in the second half, the Eagles scored on a penalty kick to make it a 1 goal game. With seconds on the clock the Eagles would take a free kick hoping to tie up the game. They risked it all by bringing all ten other players into the Blazers goal box with their keeper taking the kick. Jack Ford deflected the kick and set up the Blazers with a breakaway towards the unguarded Eagles net. Jack Ford would find Trent Byers heading down the field behind the last defender for his first goal of the season. The game ended shortly after with a save by goalkeeper Ethan Jackson. The final score was 4-2 for the Blazers second win of the season.

The Blazers will play Dr. Kiran C. Patel on Tuesday, January 10 for a redemption game after their loss to them before Christmas break. The Blazers will be coming in with high hopes after a win against SMA. Last time they played Dr. Kiran C. Patel they were down players and still put up a good fight.
