The Blazer tennis team continued their strong start to the season Thursday night, with a 4-3 win over the Bell Creek Panthers. The second road match of the season for the Blazers started off well, with Ira Jackson defeating Troy Evans 6-3/6-4 in Ira's first match as the 4 seed this season. The Panthers quickly tied it up, with Drew Calabro defeating 1 seed Isaiah Ledford 2-6/0-6. 3 seed Alex Negron fell to Evan Miller 3-6/4-6, putting the Blazers down 2-1. 2 seed Donovan Beita quickly got it back to a tie, defeating Chinmay Grogineni 6-2/6-4. 5 seed Trenton Byers lost in a tiebreak 3-6/7-5(10-5), meaning the Blazers needed to take both doubles match to bring home their third win of the season. They did exactly that, as Ira Jackson and Trenton Byers beat Braydon Garcia and Ryan Calabro 8-0, while Isaiah Ledford and Donovan Bieta took down Drew Calabro and Zachary Filpo 9-7, giving the Blazers a 4-3 win over the Panthers, and a 3-0 record on the season. The Blazers will face off against the Cambridge Christian Crusaders on Tuesday afternoon.
