The Blazers Soccer programs kicked off their 2024-25 seasons last night at Cambridge Christian. The girls program was under new head coach Armand Dikranian for his first SCS game and played well without senior defensive leaders Ainsley Wiegand and Alison Smith as they were on a college visit for the day. They battled hard, but ended up losing 0-1. This seasons girls soccer team is looking to add to last years growth as the Blazers finished the season 8-10, after having gone 2-12-1 during the 2022 season. Leading the way will be Wiegand, Smith, Olivia McCoy, Ellie Miller, Amelia Naylor, and Sierra Godwin, as the Blazers boast their strongest senior core since the 2019-20 season. Adding to that core, the Blazers will look for strong play from last years leading goal scorer, Sophomore Ryan Donlin, Junior Haley Bolton, and Freshman Selah Spenn, as all three helped to push the Blazers to victory last season. The boys will also have a strong senior core this upcoming season as Caleb Byerly, Trent Byers, Isaiah ledford, Noah Luna, Nathan West, and Alex Negron, all begin their final season of high school play. The Blazers will look to solidify their defensive line, while also finding new ways to attack the goal. Having lost last years team leader in goals scored, Judah Avery, to graduation, the Blazers will need strong seasons from Junior Jack Ford and Sophomore Elijah George to turn the program around. The Blazers have added newcomers Adrian and Cristian Sadelson. The Sadelsons come in as Juniors to the program and will look to be a strong addition to the front line of the team.

The Blazer boys will host their home opener against Foundation Christian next Tuesday the 12th at 7pm here at SCS, while the Blazer girls will head to Admiral Farragut Academy next Thursday the 14th at 5pm to battel the BlueJackets. The girls will wait until the following Monday, November 18th, to open up at home for the first time as both teams will host the Southwest Florida Christian Academy Kings, beginning at 5pm (Girls) and 7pm (Boys).
