Freshman
Brooklyn Loftus and her defensive back line of Seniors
Alison Smith,
Ainsley Wiegand,
Ellie Miller, and 8th grader
Alice Nouri, earned their second straight shutout of the year in a 2-0 victory over Admiral Farragut Academy. The victory puts the girls soccer program at 4-2-1 on the season.
Ryan Donlin continued to show she could score goals to fuel the Blazers team as she opened up the scoring in the opening minutes of the game to give the Blazers an early lead in what ended up being the winning goal. The play started on a goal kick from the Blazer keeper, Loftus, that sailed past midfield and into the BlueJackets back line, who misjudged the ball and it then bounced towards Donlin. Ryan pushed the ball forward and raced past the defenders before blasting a shot at the goal to open the scoring. Donlin scored again around 10 minutes later after
Cameron Lundquist spun a ball in behind the defense that Ryan was able to corral and push past the BlueJacket goalie and into the back of the net to make it 2-0 and score the final goal of the game. Both teams would put pressure on the opposing teams defensive back lines, but neither would push another goal across the line, with the game ending at 2-0 in favor of the Blazers.
Brooklyn Loftus had four saves in the shutout.
The Blazers will head into the weekend with the 4-2-1 record and will come out to face The Classical Academy of Sarasota for the first time in program history on Monday at 5pm.
