The Blazers Volleyball team hosted a tri-match against the JV and Varsity squads of the Gulf Coast HEAT and the Families Instructing Students Homeschool Hawks on Saturday afternoon and split the day with a tough win against the HEAT and narrow defeat against the FISH.
After a slow start that included the HEAT winning both of the first two sets, the Blazers battled back to win the final three sets (25-17, 25-23, & 15-13) to take the match. The JV match would also go to the Blazers after they too came out slow in the first set and won the final two sets to take the match. In match 2 against the FISH, the Blazers fought hard, splitting the first two sets (22-25 & 25-23), before falling to the FISH in the third and fourth sets (21-25 & 19-25). The JV improved to 4-0 on the year with a 2 set victory over the FISH.
The weekend split brings the Varsity Blazers to 2-1 on the year and JV to 4-0. The teams head down to Fort Myers on Tuesday night for games against the Kings of Southwest Florida Christian Academy (3-4) before returning home on Thursday evening to face the Tampa Bay HEAT (0-1). Both teams will have been tough competition for the Blazers in the past and should be good games for the teams.
