The Blazers Boys Soccer team scored at the 1:05 minute mark and never looked back as they defeated the Faith Warriors of Bayshore Christian by an 8-0 score. The first score came as
Noah Ovalle fought and won a battle inside the penalty box and then found
Cristian Sadelson (2) across the goal from him for the easy goal. The Blazers would pepper the Faith Warriors goal all night, amassing over 18 shots on goal and more than 35 shots total, but the next big play would come on the defensive side of the ball as a defender won a battle against the back line and let loose a shot for the bottom corner of the net.
Jacob Murray went into action, making the diving save to keep the net cleared. Goal number two for the Blazers would come in the 16th minute as
Eli Ford tried to find a teammate inside the penalty box and instead found the ball deflected right back to him. Ford then placed the ball into the corner of the net for his first goal of the season. The Blazers then unleashed three more goals in the next 5 and a half minutes to take a commanding 5-0 lead shortly after the water break. The first of those three would come two minutes after the goal by Ford as
Noah Ovalle would win a battle against the Faith Warriors defense and then
Cristian Sadelson (3) found the deflection of Noah's pass in front of the goal to place it into the corner and make it 3-0. After another two and a half minutes, the
Eli Ford (2) would strike a second time after a shot from
Owen Donato was blocked by a defender and found Ford, who quickly placed it into the back of the net to head into the water break at 4-0. Goal number five came when
Nathan D'Alonzo threaded a pass through the defense to
Jack Campbell (2) who made a great run down the right side of the field, took two touches and struck the ball past the goalie for the five nothing lead. The Blazers would leave five to nothing until just before the half as
Noah Ovalle (1) would take the ball from outside the penalty box and use his blazing speed to bear down on the goal and touch it into the corner of the net past the opposing goalkeeper to go into the half with a lead of 6-0. That is the way the game would stay until the twenty five minute mark of the second half when
Cristian Sadelson pushed the ball up towards the left corner.
Owen Donato (2) won the race to the ball, touched it around a defender and then shot the ball into the corner of the net for a 7-0 lead. Two minutes later, the 8th and final goal would come as
Robin Jasek (1) took the ball around 40 yards out and dribbled through the defense before launching the ball up and over the goalie and into the corner of the net for the mercy-rule win. The Blazers played well across the board, with several younger players stepping into positions for the first time on varsity and working hard to get the ball into the goal.
The Blazers next game will be next Tuesday at home against the Lancers of Cambridge Christian School at 7pm, with the Blazer girls team playing at 5pm. Currently forecast is for next Tuesday to be in the 70s most of the day, so it'll be a great night for soccer as the Blazers try to bounce back from a rough beginning of the season loss to the Lancers last season.
