The Blazers traveled to The Classical Academy of Sarasota on Friday for what would be a physically and emotionally draining match. The field conditions were challenging, but the team toughed one out to a 2-2 draw in a very chaotic night. Classical would open up the scoring in the 10th minute after a ball was misplayed thirty yards out from the goal and a Patriot forward surprised Blazer goalkeeper
Matthew Manyak by launching the ball over his head and into the goal to lead 1-0. The Blazers would strike back in the 30th minute after
Rowan Baum threaded the needle on a throw in to
Cristian Sadelson, who took two touches towards the goal to draw the goalkeeper before crossing the ball to a flashing
Owen Donato (3), who one-touched the ball into the empty net to tie the game at 1-1 each. It would remain that way until the 30 minute mark of the second half as the Patriots would earn a corner kick after Manyak had an incredible save, off of a Patriot penalty kick, that went beyond the end line for a corner. In the scramble off of the corner kick, another misplayed ball found its way to Patriot feet and the Patriot midfielder launched the ball towards the net. The ball took a crazy hop past Manyak to make the game 2-1 in favor of Classical. The Blazers would score off of their own corner kick in the 43rd minute of the game to tie it up at 2-2. Donato would take the corner and cross it to the back side of the goal area, where
Jack Campbell would find the ball and cross it back in front of the net to a waiting
Eli Ford. Ford (3) took one touch towards the goalkeeper and was knocked off the ball by a defender, but the ball bounced right back to his feet and he knocked it into the back of the goal for his third goal of the season and the equalizer, making it 2-2. That is how the game would end as the Blazers move to 2-1-1 on the season.
The Blazers will next head to Southwest Florida Christian on Tuesday coming out of Thanksgiving break for a 7pm start time against the King's. Their next home game will be the following Friday evening against Sarasota Military Academy at 7pm on a night when the Athletic Department hosts its Elementary Night.
