The Sarasota Christian Girls Soccer team traveled to The Classical Academy of Sarasota on Friday night for a game that was tight the entire way as both teams had solid defenses and pushed to a 1-1 tie.
Reagan Volkert scored her fifth goal of the season to put the Blazers up 1-0. In the 27th minute,
Brooklyn Mruczek found a loose ball and pushed it away to
Reagan Volkert who knocked it past the last defender and raced after the ball. She then took two touches and laced a shot to the right of the Patriots goalkeeper for the opening goal of the game. Classical Academy would find the net late in the second half after a shot to the right side was blocked by a Blazer defender, but found its way straight to the feet of a Patriot and she launched the ball into the empty left side of the goal.
Brooklyn Loftus made five saves on the night to earn a draw. The Blazers move to 3-0-1 on the year as they remain unbeaten.
Quote by Coach Dikranian.
"We had a good game plan, and it's safe to say the girls delivered on it. Considering last year to TCA we were down 0-5 at halftime, to be leading for the majority of the match and to get this result is a huge testament to the heart of these girls and growth of this program."
The Blazers will next play on Tuesday coming out of the Thanksgiving break at Southwest Florida Christian at 5pm.
