Blazer Down Eagles 4-0 to Improve to 3-2-1

The Blazers Boys Soccer team played a strong defensive game on Friday night, shutting out the Eagles of Sarasota Military Academy 4-0 to improve to 3-2-1 on the season. Before the game, we invited all of our elementary students in attendance to the sideline to run out with the varsity boys as the rosters were announced, followed by Karsyn Reeves and Atlas Agate leading everyone in the singing of The Star Spangled Banner. The first great opportunity came to the Eagles as they earned a free kick just outside the penalty box. The shot attempt deflected off a member of the Blazer's wall and just missed the goal by a few feet. The first goal would come as the Blazers earned a penalty kick off of a handball inside the box. Cristian Sadelson (5) would take the penalty kick and blast it past the goalkeeper to make it 1-0 in the 17th minute. The Eagles would get another close opportunity as they earned a penalty kick in the 25th minute, but Blazer goalkeeper Matthew Manyak would deny the attempt and rebounding shot to preserve the shutout. The second Blazer goal would come from the feet of Owen Donato in the 37th minute. Noah Ovalle would take a throw in and find Donato with it. Donato passed to Adrian Sadleson in the middle and received a quick pass back that led to Owen (4) launching a shot from the corner of the penalty box over the outstretched arm of the goalkeeper and into the corner of the goal to take a 2-0 lead into halftime. During halftime, Coach Moises Tello invited all of the elementary students to the field to try their passing skills out and win a snack from the concession stand. Coming out of halftime, the Blazers would score inside the first two minutes of the second half as the Eagles would surrender another penalty kick due to a handball inside the penalty box. Cristian Sadelson (6) would take the PK again and score his second goal of the game off of penalty kicks to make the score 3-0 in favor of the Blazers. The 4th and final goal of the game would come in the 54th minute as Eli Ford would win the ball and let loose a shot that would be blocked by an Eagle defender and bounce right to Nathan D'Alonzo for a one touch shot. D'Alonzo's (1) shot deflected off another Eagle defender and slipped by the goalie for his first goal as a Blazer.

The Blazers will travel to Cristo Rey in Tampa for a 4pm start time on Tuesday.
