The Blazers would capitalize early and never look back against Sarasota Military Academy to improve to 5-1-1 with the 8-1 win at home Friday evening. The game started out with a night of celebrating our elementary students as they took the field to walk out with the varsity girls soccer program as Blazer 5th grader Atlas Agate led the crowd and teams in the singing of The Star Spangled Banner prior to the game. The Blazers would score in the fourth minute as
Brooklyn Mruczek (3) would tally her third goal of the season off of an Eagle goal kick that bounced off a defenders feet and right to Mruczek. Brooklyn then took two touches to get around another defender and slid the ball past the goal keeper and into the net to make it 1-0. Mruczek wasn't finished as she'd put in two more goals in the next five minutes to make the score 3-0 before the ten minute mark. On her second, Gabi DaSilva would take a throw in along the east sideline and float it just over
Reagan Miller's head and led her perfectly towards the goal. Miller then lofted the ball just past the last line of the Eagles defense and to the waiting feet of Mruczek. Mruczek (4) took a few calm touches to the net and launched the ball past the Eagles goalkeeper for the 2-0 lead. The hat trick would come just over a minute later as
Cameron Lundquist would win the race to a ball and make a nice pass to set up Mruczek (5) with her third goal of the game. The Blazers would score twice more during the first half.
Selah Spenn (2) would take control of an errant Eagle throw in, take two touches, and blast the ball past the goalie and into the back of the net to go up 4-0.
Reagan Volkert (6) would add to her goal tally as she'd win the battle off of an Eagle goal kick, shoot the ball towards the goal and then follow up on the rebound to place the ball into the back of the net.
Steele Mazer (1) added her first Blazer goal in the 35th minute as she'd win the race to the ball and two touch it past the goalkeeper and into the corner of the net to make it 6-0. At half time, Coach Moises Tello and the elementary soccer program, The Sparks, took the field for an 8 minute game that saw a number of goals coming from our future Blazers. The Eagles would get a goal in the 70th minute to avoid the shutout on a very nice back row pass the led to the goal and make it 6-1 Blazers. The Blazers would get their 7th goal of the game as they'd earn a penalty kick on a handball inside the penalty box.
Jasmine Kirchner (1) would get her first goal of her senior season as she'd step up to the ball and push it past the goalkeeper. The final goal would come at the feet of senior Gabi DaSilva. Fellow senior,
Cameron Lundquist would take the ball in the middle of the field and dribble it to the outside and around the Eagles defense, driving it towards the goalkeeper to attract her attention and then crossing it in front of the goal to a flashing DaSilva (1) for her first goal of the season to make the final score 8-1.
The Blazers will take the field again on Tuesday against Winthrop College Prep Academy at 7pm.
