The Athlete of the Year Award is given annually to a male and female athlete. These athletes display dominance in their sport and often in multiple sports. They set a high standard for commitment and work ethic. They are great competitors who are striving to get better and pushing their teammates to do the same. They have demonstrated athletic excellence on the fields and courts of Sarasota Christian School.
Alison Smith is our 2025 Female Athlete of the Year. She excelled in three sports. She played with joy and always represented SCS in a way that glorified Christ. Here coaches had the following to say about her:
From Coach Jordan, "I have had the pleasure of coaching her for 3 years and am so proud of the strides she has made as a volleyball player. Her tremendous work ethic and coachability lead her to be the highest jumper on the team and a dependable player to score points in crunch time. Pair that with her positive attitude, her servant leadership, and an intense passion to play her absolute best are all reasons I believe she is deserving of this award".
From Coach Dikranian, "She has certainly deserved the honor of Athlete of the Year. In athletics, you're expected to deliver on more than just technical execution and physical performance; but also, character, courage, devotion, leadership, joy, perseverance and toughness. She has been the salt of the earth, and the light of the world for us all; a tremendous example that should not be hidden. She has led the soccer program and has marked a path for the rest of us to strive towards".
From Coach K, "This season, I assigned the tag of "perpetually positive" to her as her radiant joy is overwhelming in the best way. Her athletic performance from sophomore to senior year was notable and she always found a way to drown out any negativity that did not encourage her teammates to be the best versions of themselves. Her love for her friends is unending, just ask Izzy, her beach partner, and I cannot recall a single complaint coming from her mouth during the entirety of the season. She had around 75 aces this season alone and never once gave up a game without a fight, particularly in 3 sets".
