Blazer Boys Soccer controlled their game against First Academy Leesburg from beginning to end as they won 3-1 on Saturday to take third place in the SSAA 3A bracket. The first goal would come shortly after the first half water break as Senior Cristian Sadelson would take the ball at midfield and dribble towards the goal. Sadelson found Junior Noah Ovalle just outside the penalty area and Ovalle (3) launched the ball past the Eagle's goalkeeper to make it 1-0. Two minutes later, the Blazers would strike again as they'd earn a free kick just outside the penalty area. Sophomore Owen Donato (9) would set up the ball and release a beautiful shot to the back post that curled right inside the post and past the Eagle goalkeeper into the net for the 2 goal lead. That would be all of the scoring during the first half as neither goalkeeper would concede another goal. Matthew Manyak would get the first quarter shutout with two crucial saves and forced several off goal shots as the Eagles had six great chances at the goal. The Blazers held a big edge during the first half, controlling the ball and working on the offensive side of the ball. In the second half, the Eagles would strike back on a penalty kick after Eagle Junior Ezekiel Lowe would go down inside of the penalty area. Lowe would find the corner of the goal to make it 2-1 Blazers. The Blazers would bounce back in the final 10 minutes of the game as they'd earn a penalty kick after a tackle inside the penalty area. Cristian Sadelson (9) would take the kick and bury it in the corner to increase the lead to 2 at 3-1. That's the way the game would end as the Blazer defense held strong to the end.

The Blazers move to 5-8-1 with the victory and will head into the last week of the season. Tuesday night the Blazers will face 1-11 Babcock Ranch High School at home for senior night at 7pm before traveling to 6-3-2 Saint Stephen's Episcopal on Thursday evening.
