Blazer Girls Soccer traveled to Punta Gorda and Babcock Ranch High School on Saturday morning for the Sunshine State Athletic Association's State Championship game. The 2025-26 SSAA State Championship game is the first SSAA State Championship birth for the Blazers in any sport.
The Blazers came out strong, playing well throughout the first half. Out-of-Door Academy was the first to break through as they scored in the third minute of the game and then again in the 20th minute. But the Blazers would hold throughout the rest of the first half. The Blazers made it 2-1 in the second minute of the second half as Blazer goalkeeper
Haley Bolton would unleash a kick that traveled far into the Thunder's half of the field before Blazer forward
Reagan Volkert won the race to the ball. Volkert (9) would take one touch and beat the Thunder goalkeeper to the ball before colliding with the goalkeeper and going down. The Ball continued traveling all the way into the corner of the goal to get the Blazers on the board. The Thunder would score two minutes later to make it a two goal game again. But the Blazers were able to come within one again in the 20th minute as
Selah Spenn would take a free kick and blast it over the last Thunder Defender.
Reagan Volkert (10) would once again win the race to the ball and connected with it right before the goalkeeper closed on her to score her second goal of the game. But the Blazers were unable to keep the comeback alive as they ran out of gas down the stretch, giving up four goals in the final ten minutes of the game.
It was the forth straight SSAA title for the Thunder. SCS Athletic Director, Jacob Spenn, had this to say "ODA is the best program in the area and we stayed with them for a majority of the game. Four years ago we were struggling to find 11 girls for each game. We won a few games that year and rarely scored. Now we have a real possibility of a 10 win season for the varsity and the MS team is undefeated. Really excited about the growth of the program and where we are headed."

The Blazers will host senior night on Tuesday evening after their game against Babcock Ranch High School at 5pm.
