Blazer Girls Basketball continued their successful season by going 2-1 during Christmas break and improving to 7-3.
The break began with a win against Bishop McLaughlin Catholic at home on Friday December 19th, by a score of 38-22. Then the Blazers spent the week of Christmas with family before gearing up to host the Holiday Classic for the first time. In game one of the Holiday Classic, the Blazers were led by
Brenda Bresciani's 6th double-double of the season as the Blazers won the match-up 46-25. In the Holiday Classic Championship, the Blazers battled hard against Victory Christian, taking the lead right before the fourth quarter, but ultimately falling to the Storm after a barrage of threes to begin the fourth quarter and firmly take the lead back to take the game 44-36. The Blazers were again led by Bresciani with her 7th double-double, while
Nikki Olupitan added a near double-double as well. Prior to coming back from break, the Blazers hosted the Trailblazers from Babcock Ranch HS on Friday evening. The Blazers led most of the game before giving up the lead late in the game and going into overtime. In overtime, the Trailblazers would come out to a three point lead before the Blazers went on a 7-1 run to end it and take the 53-50 victory. Olupitan had her best game of the year with 24 points and 16 rebounds as she finally recorded her first double-double of the year after several near misses early in the season.

The Blazers will have their toughest stretch of the season as they travel to Fort Myers on Monday to battle against Southwest Florida Christian (7-6), before hosting 4A Lemon Bay HS (6-7) on Tuesday and then Out-of-Door Academy (5-4).
