Blazer Boys Soccer traveled to Out-of-Door Academy for a match-up with the Thunder (9-4). The Blazers started off strong, playing tough with the Thunder through most of the first half as the teams remained scoreless going through the first waterbreak. The first goal would come by the Thunder in the 28th minute as a breakdown in the defense led to a hard shot by a Thunder forward that was just out of the reach of Blazer goalkeeper
Matthew Manyak to make the score 1-0. The score would remain 1-0 until five minutes into the second half as the Thunder would score from twenty yards out on a ball that was just inside the far post to make it 2-0. From there though, the Thunder would pile on four more goals before the Blazers found the back of the net with 3 minutes to go in the game.
Eli Ford would get things going as he won a challenge for the ball and then found the feet of
Owen Donato. Donato (7) would take two touches and aim for the near post on a ball that was just outside the range of the Thunder goalkeeper to avoid the shutout.
The Blazers will be back in action Friday as they host the Sunshine State Athletic Association's 3A championship bracket, inviting #1 Bell Creek Academy, #2 First Academy Leesburg, and #3 Real Life Christian, to Sarasota for the tournament. The tournament kicks off at 5pm Friday night with the Blazers taking on the Panthers from Bell Creek, followed by First Academy Leesburg and Real Life Christian at 7pm.
