Blazer Boys Volleyball swept Calvary Christian last night 3-0 on Senior Night. After a night recognizing seniors
Colton Loftus and
Travis Miller, the Blazers came out in one of the most dominating sets of the season, winning the first set easily 25-12. Sets two and three would be a little bit closer, but the Blazers would pull away late in both sets to secure the 25-17 and 25-15 set wins.
Noah Spenn came out hot early in the match, sending down ten kills early on and setting the pace for the match.
Cale Zeltwanger (13 kills) and Miller (9 kills) were solid throughout the match as well as the Blazers hit from all over the court, keeping Calvary Christian off balance. The Blazers posted 42 kills as a team, while allowing just 19 kills by the Warriors as the Blazers defense had 51 digs. The Senior duo, Loftus (17 digs) and Miller (12 digs) were solid in the back row as they repeatedly turned back the Warriors hits. Spenn (7) and
Cale Zeltwanger (8) also had a great nights defensively. The Blazer trio of Spenn (19),
Tait Zeltwanger (10), and Miller (6), dished out the assists on the offensive side of the ball.
The win closes a very successful season for the Blazers, finishing at 14-4 and heading into the FHSAA Tournament ranked #1 in Class 1A District 4 and #4 in Region 1. The Blazers are a lock to play in the regional portion of the tournament and have a great chance at hosting a match. With only three teams in district 4, the Blazers will host the district championship next Friday, April 24th, here at Sarasota Christian.
