Last night, the Lady Blazers honored seniors
Bella Bogacz and
Madilyn Dreiling prior their final home game of the season against the Gulf Coast HEAT. A pregame ceremony honored the two that have played a significant role in growing the Lady Blazer program. The ceremony included flowers, autographed balls and a framed team picture for the two seniors, as well as a speeches written by each senior. Also, a small piece about the senior was written by another player on the team. Their skills as players, as well as their role as leaders, has led them to extremely successful high school careers.
Bella Bogacz has been a starter for the Varsity team since her Freshman year. Throughout her career, she has shown that she is an elite talent, with 359 kills, 429 digs, 21 blocks, and 56 assists in her career. Next year she will be taking her talents to Warner University, following in the footsteps of both of her coaches. She will be a two sports athlete, playing beach volleyball as well.
Madilyn Dreiling has been a Varsity starter since her Sophomore year. As a three sport athlete, Madilyn is an extremely versatile player, with skills in volleyball, basketball, and beach volleyball. During her stellar career she had 299 kills, 172 digs, 54 blocks, and 23 assists. She also contributed 13 aces during her time as a Lady Blazer. Her contributions to the team will be missed next season, as she has shown herself to be an incredible player and teammate.
After the ceremony was over, the Lady Blazers took the court opposite the HEAT. Looking to continue a winning streak that began the weekend prior in the SSAC Tournament, they started off strong. Feeding off the energy created by a packed student section, the Lady Blazers looked dominant early, taking the first set 25-18. Their winning ways did not stop there. The Lady Blazers took the second set 25-17, as the standing-room only crowd continued to go wild for the final home game of the year. In the third set, it was back and forth, and the Lady Blazers looked ready to finish off the HEAT. The HEAT showed heart and managed to take the set 26-24, getting within one set of the Lady Blazers. Motivated to finish off strong, the Lady Blazers took the fourth and final set 25-17, getting a defining win in the final home game of
Bella Bogacz and
Madilyn Dreiling's careers.
The Lady Blazers look to add to their longest win streak of the season next Tuesday in the FHSAA District Volleyball Tournament.
