Our student athlete Blazers of the Year are recognized for their contributions to the athletic program through encouragement, positive attitude and willingness to serve. At this year's Athletic Awards Night, a volunteer who contributed in the same way was also honored. The 2021-22 Volunteer Blazer of the Year is Paul Smith. 
Smith is an SCS Middle School Social Studies teacher, volleyball coach and parent.
If the athletic department needed a van driver, fill-in assistant coach, person to set up a tent or someone to help find other volunteers, they called Paul Smith. Coach Spenn had this to say about Coach Smith, "I am grateful for fellow workers who never reply to a request with 'that's not my job' and thankful for the devotion to students and example of godliness Paul shows to our SCS student body and athletes."
