The Coach of the Year Award is awarded annually to one varsity head coach at Sarasota Christian School. This award recognizes the positive impact that a coach has on the lives of the student-athletes. We ask our coaches to do far more than teach a game, we ask them to be transformational in the lives of the athletes that they coach. This award honors the coach that continues to go above and beyond to build a great team that performs at a high level in the field of competition while building godly men and women for life.
This years winner is
Michael Tedder. He is one of our longest serving head coaches they have seen a lot of change over the years at SCS. They have overcome a lot of obstacles but continue to grow the program to higher levels of competition.Â
One of our parent surveys says "He has been an amazing coach and mentor for our son. His quiet strength of character tempered our son's tendency to respond to adversity with big emotions." One player stated that "Although I've only known him for four years, he has been a great mentor to me, and I feel blessed to have a wonderful influence like him in my life. He always puts his players first over winning a match and always encourages us. He was a wonderful coach and always pushed me to be my best. This is why I reached my potential this season and won my districts. I will miss all the times he hits a curb, and when the team went to Taco Bell. He always keeps God first in everything he does, and has more than earned this award."
Kaylan Weeks
Isaiah Ledford shared that, "He has been an important person throughout my five years in his program. As much as he has helped in the development of my game, the real impact he has on his players is off the court. From team meals to post game chats, he always shows how much he values us as people, not just as players. Whether win or lose, he always greeted me with the same words… "I'm proud of you." And for that, I will always be grateful."Â
He coaches multiple sports, but it is tennis that he is most passionate about. His love for the game and those that have chosen to play it over the past 10 years is contagious.Â
