Blazer Boys Volleyball traveled to North Tampa Christian in Wesley Chapel for an early season match-up with the Titans. The Blazers started out strong, winning set one 25-21, but lost the next two sets 25-21 and 26-24. The Blazers weren't finished as they battled back and won the fourth set 25-14 and took a solid 12-5 lead in the fifth and final set to fifteen points. But they weren't able to hold the lead and put the game away as the Titan's scored eleven of the final thirteen points to win the set 16-14 and give them the win of the match 3 sets to 2. This was the Blazers first real solid opponent of the year and it showed as all but one set came down to the final few points.
Cale Zeltwanger (24 kills) and
Noah Spenn (20 kills) led the team, with
Travis Miller sending down 10 kills of his own. Spenn connected with his hitters for 29 assists, while Zeltwanger, Miller, and
Tait Zeltwanger combined to send out another 18 assists. The Blazers back line was led by Spenn with 25 digs,
Tait Zeltwanger with 19 digs, Miller with 17 digs, and
Cale Zeltwanger with 15 digs.
Carson Fulcher led the team with 3 blocks, while Spenn added 2 as well.
The Blazers will look to bounce back from the disappointing loss after Spring Break as they travel to Tampa to take on the Hawks of FISH on March 16th at 6:30pm.
