The Blazers took the field for the first time at home and were supported by a great crowd with an amazing game day atmosphere. Despite facing an experienced Canterbury team the Blazers once again marched down the field for an opening drive score. Ben Miliken went four fo four through the air for 64 yards as he completed passes to
Justin Brock,
Austin Kerle and finally the first home TD to
Noah Spenn in the back of the endzone to put the Blazers on top early.Â
The Blazer had an opportunity to punch in another score in the second quarter but came up inches short as
Justin Brock could not get across the goaline and the 4th down pass from Milliken to
Carson Spenn fell incomplete. Canterbury's physical play set the tone early in the second half and the Blazers struggled to get Crusader Jordan Battle on the ground all night. Trailing 22 - 6 early in the 4th the Blazers showed some life when
Ben Milliken connected with
Colton Loftus for three straight passes including a TD. The 2 point attempt fell short and the Blazers would never get closer than the 10 point gap as Battle found the endzone one more time giving Canterbury a 30-12 victory.Â
There were some bright spots on defense as the Blazers forced two interceptions by
Justin Brock and
Travis Miller.
Carson Spenn recorded 11 total tackles to lead the defense.
Justin Brock was over 100 yards receiving for the second straight game as the Blazers put up 254 yards but gave up 391 on the night. SCS will travel to Four Corners Charter School in Davenport on Friday as they continue to look for that first victory of the season.Â
Coach
Jacob Spenn had this to say about the game, "It was great atmosphere on our campus and great to see the SCS community come out and support the team. We are making big strides each day as a football team, kids are having fun and continuing to bond as a team."
