Last Saturday, Blazer football posted a shutout of the Saint Stephen's Episcopal School Falcons at home and Blazer volleyball followed that up on Tuesday night with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-10, 25-20) shutout of the Universal Academy Falcons in regional quarterfinal play of the FHSAA Tournament. The win marks the first regional victory for the Blazers since 2015 when they completed another 3-0 shutout against Everglades City after a season where the Blazers went 24-6. The win marks Coach Josh Jordans 73rd victory and sends the Blazers to the Regional Semi-finals for the first time during his five years as the head coach at SCS.
The Blazers will now face Seacrest Country Day at 11am on Saturday, in a battle against the three time defending Class 1A state champions in Naples, Florida. The Stingrays will come into the game with a 16-5 record on the season, having defeated Babcock Ranch High School (25-6, 25-4, 25-10) in their regional quarterfinal match-up, with that being the only common match-up between them and the Blazers. The Blazers also beat Babcock 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-15) back in the middle of September. The Stingrays look to be a tough opponent, so the Blazers will need to shutdown two key hitters for the Stingrays and play nearly perfect volleyball in order to come out on top of the game.
