The Blazer Boys Basketball team used a strong first half to improve to 4-3 on the season after a 41-28 win against the Thunder of Out-of-Door Academy.
Ben Milliken and
Justin Brock would both hit a pair of threes in the first quarter before
Travis Miller hit a buzzer beater to give the Blazers a quick 17-7 first quarter lead. The second quarter would start out much of the same with Brock hitting a three and then finishing a sweet cut by putting the ball up and in off an inbounds play to push the lead to 22-9. Miller, Milliken, and
Carson Spenn would all add 2 pointers to increase the lead to 19 points at 28-9. The biggest lead of the night came early in the third quarter as the Blazers would begin with a free throw from Spenn, follow that up with a sweet dish from Brock to Milliken to finish a fastbreak, and then
Randall Collins would go flying out of bounds to retrieve a ball and send it in the corner to a waiting Miller for a two pointer to make it a 21 point lead at 34-13. From there the Blazer focused on ball control and solid defense, limiting the Thunders attempts to close out the game.
The win finished off a sweeping of the Thunder as the JV boys basketball team started the night with a 50-36 victory and the girls varsity program followed the win up with one of their own with a score of 44-28.
The Blazers will be back in action on Tuesday next week at Bayshore High School at 7:30pm with the JV playing at 6pm.
