The Blazers pulled away in the second half for their 6th straight win and trip to the FHSAA Sweet 16! The Blazers came out slow, but hung with the Saints through the first quarter, coming back to tie it in the closing seconds to head into the second quarter tied at 15. The Blazers slowly built a lead during the second quarter, leading by as much as 9 at 24-15 before the Saints pulled back within six to end the quarter. The lead would drop to two points with one minute gone in the third quarter and Coach
Kevin Bruinsma would call his first timeout of the second half. From there, the Blazers would outscore the Saints 17-6 to end the quarter with a 50-37 lead going into the fourth quarter.
Justin Brock would get things rolling in the second half for the Blazers as he'd drive and release a floater that went through. The Saints would answer with a basket of their own before
Travis Miller released a smooth shot for three and then stole the ball on the defensive end for an easy layup to push the lead to seven. The teams would trade baskets over the next minute, with Milliken answering both of the Saints layups with three balls to increase the lead. Miller would add a driving layup and
Noah Spenn would show off some post work to get to the rim to finish the quarter with a basket. The Blazers didn't slow down as they pushed the 13 point lead out to a 26 point lead late in the fourth quarter, leading to the eventual 66-47 final score. The Blazers played a solid team game as all five starters were in double figures. Leading the way was
Ben Milliken with 15 points, while
Noah Spenn and
Travis Miller both posted 12,
Drew Sirianni dropped in 11 and
Justin Brock scored 10.
