The Blazer Boys Basketball team's season has come to an end. Finishing at 18-11 after a trip to the regional semi-finals against Victory Christian. The Blazers came out even with the Storm during the first four minutes of play, with the Storm scoring three baskets inside the paint and
Drew Sirianni hitting twice from three point range, but the Storm surged on defense and forced several turnovers, leading to an eventual 24-10 lead at the end of the first quarter. The final three quarters were much of the same as the Storm was strong on defense and the Blazers weren't able to get a strong footing offensively, shooting just 40% on the night. Sirianni led the way with 12 points, while the Blazers had four score 4 points.
Coach Bru had this to say about Victory, "That is the best high school team that I've ever seen play in Florida". Victory will continue their season, currently 23-6 and ranked 18th in the state of Florida, 3rd in the 1A rankings, as strong contenders to win the 1A State Championship this season.
The Blazers season ends at one of the Blazers best records under Coach Bruinsma, reaching his high in total wins with 18 and winning at the regional level for the first time. The Blazers reached 100 wins under Coach Bruinsma late in the year, sweeping the regular season match-ups between themselves and the Out-of-Door Academy and Bradenton Christian for the first time in over 10 years. The Blazers beat 4A Bayshore High School, 4A Desoto County High School, and 6A Lakewood Ranch High School.
