The Lady Blazers season ended tonight after the first round of FHSAA Regional Tournament. The Blazers faced a very talented Evangelical Christian School team losing 16-1. After the Sentinel's erupted with eight hits (2 homeruns by junior Karsyn Mootz), the Blazers got a 1-2-3 defensive stop in the second. The third inning was all Evangelical as they put up another three runs to make it 14-0. But the Blazers came through with a single by
Giada Down and a triple by
Selah Spenn to drive her in and put the Blazers on the board. But it wasn't enough as the Sentinel's would come back with two in the bottom of the fourth to end the game at 16-1.
Dakota Guerrero led the team with 2 hits and 1 stolen base.
Giada Down,
Brooklyn Loftus, and
Selah Spenn each had 1 hit a piece. Natalie Fernandez De Castro made an incredible stop at second base to end the third inning and giving the Blazers another chance at the plate to avoid the shutout. Loftus started on the mound for the Blazers giving up 12 hits and only walking 1 out of 29 batters faced.
The Blazers will end their season at 11-8 on the year.
