SCS Defeats the Florida School for the Blind and Deaf for the First Playoff Win

The Blazers Defeat FSDB with a Great Offensive Performance

SCS began the playoffs with a powerful offensive showing against the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind. The Blazers high powered offense scored 56 points and had a touchdown on defense to complete the 62-44 win. The win takes the team to a 6-4 record and now will finish their inaugural year with a record above 500. 

The game began with a rushing touchdown by Colton Loftus running around the right side of the line and into the endzone. Isaiah Ledford nailed the point after attempt to go up 7-0. FSDB responded back with a touchdown and the following two point conversion to lead by 1. Travis Miller then gave the Blazers the lead back with a 35 yard touchdown reception. FSDB then added another touchdown before the end of the first quarter to take the lead back at 16-14. After a turnover, and facing what looked like an unstoppable running attack, Austin Kerle got the Blazers back on top when he forced a fumble and scooped the ball up and took it all the way to the endzone for an 84 yard scoop and score. FSDB would score twice in the second quarter before Randall Collins caught a 20 yard touchdown and cut down the FSDB lead to 30-28 at the end of the half. 

In the second half the Blazers started off hot, with a big defensive stops that lead to scoring 20 points in the third quarter. The Blazers forced two four and outs as Carson Spenn recorded three tackles for loss to start the second half. Austin Kerle was in on a tackle for loss and forced his second fumble of the game. Randall Collins was also in on two tackles for loss as teh Blazers simply shut down the Dragon offense.

On the Offensive side, Austin Kerle rushed for a 5 yard touchdown, Justin Brock hauled in a 40 yard touchdown, and Colton Loftus caught a 30 yard touchdown pass. The Blazers defense stepped up and held the FSDB offense to 0 points in the third quarter to build a nice lead going into the fourth and final quarter at 48-30. In the final quarter the Blazers were able to have everyone on the team play at least one snap in the game. When the scoreboard hit triple zeros, the Blazers had won the game 62-44. 

The win puts the Blazers into the semi-finals of the SSAC 2A Conference bracket. SCS is set for a rematch against Lakeside Christian. The Blazers faced Lakeside on October 7 in a 47-42 loss. The Blazers will host the game despite being the lower seed and will be promoting the game as a white out.
