The Sarasota Christian baseball team is off to fiert start in their 2023 campaign. They won by run rule for the second straight game by defeating the Foundation Christian Academy Panthers 15-5. The Blazers would start with a blast as they would score 8 runs before the Panthers had a chance to bat.
Evan Poznanski would start things by walking and taking two bases on a throwing error by the pitcher, scoring on an RBI single by Alexander Hefti to make it 1-0. After a single and a hit batter loaded up the bases, Colin Lawson would single to bring in two runs and make it 3-0 Blazers. Back to back walks by
Connor Lundy and
Luke LeClair would lead to a fourth run and set up Blazers leadoff hitter
Justin Brock up with the bases loaded and two outs. Brock would redeem himself, having lined out to the second baseman to start the game, with a grand slam over the right field fence to round out the scoring in the first inning. The Blazers would strike again in the third inning, once again hitting well with the bases loaded as Hefti would record his third hit of the game with a 3 run triple.
Randall Collins would follow that up with a double to score Hefti and make the score 12-1 Blazers. After a walk and a hit batter,
Rowan Baum would single and
Connor Lundy would bring in the fifteenth run on a grounder to the second baseman. From there, the Blazers would coast to the victory with a score of 15-5 at the end of the fifth inning.
Justin Brock started on the mound for the Blazers and got his first win of the season, going two innings and striking out three batters to go with his grand slam at the plate. Hefti also saw time on the mound, striking out three batters as well. The blazers improved their record to 2-0 and look to continue their success against Imagine School at North Port on Tuesday at 6:30pm at Atwater Community Park, 4475 Skyway Ave, North port, FL, 34288.
