The (5-3) Blazers took on the (4-5) Tornadoes from Booker High. Prior to this game, the Blazers opened the week with a big 11-3 win over Bayshore. On the other side, the Tornadoes were starting to figure things out as they came into the game on a three game winning streak. Receiving his first start of his high school career on the bump for the Blazers was eighth grader
Evan Poznanski. Things started off slow, as neither team could get the bats hot. Through the first two innings, defense was tight. That ended when the Blazers were able to put up six runs in the third. The Blazers led 6-0 and continued to back Evan's hot start up. Coming into the fourth, the tornadoes tagged on two runs to stay in the game. However, the Blazers were able to offer a rebuttal to Bookers offense by passing the stick and putting up ten runs, while sending 16 batters to the plate in the bottom of the fourth. The Blazers would come together and refocus to end the game in the fifth, winning 16-6. Evan worked through four solid innings on the mound, striking out six and not walking a batter. Sophomore
Randall Collins had himself a night behind the plate as he would throwout two runners attempting to steal bases. Collins also had a strong night hitting, bringing in two runs with three hits. The Blazers were fast on the bases, stealing nine bases in the win. With this win, the Blazers finished up at 2-0 on the week and improve to 6-3 on the season.
The Blazers look to protect home field and add to their win streak as they take on Saint Stephens in a district matchup on 3/28 at 6pm. Tuesday is also Blue and Gold night.
