Varsity Baseball Randall Collins (Class of 2025)

SCS Loses in a Tight Game

The SCS baseball team came up short against the Panthers of Bradenton Christian in a battle between two good pitchers. Justin Brock gave the team the performance they needed to give them a chance to beat the Panthers. Brock gave up 4 runs total, 3 earned, in 5 innings of work before Randall Collins came in to relieve him for the last two innings. The Panthers started things off in the first inning, gaining two runs on a pair of hits and an error. Freshman Collin Lawson drove in a run on a fielders choice to get things started for the Blazers and bring the score to 2-1 Panthers after two innings. BCS would come back in the top half of the third with a pair of runs on a hit batter, single, and double to centerfield. Both teams would go scoreless for the next couple of innings until the Blazers would string together a hit batter and a walk, taking advantage of a throwing error by the catcher on a ball that ended up down the right field line.  After that, the team was unable to get the bats going. The Blazers would hit the ball hard, but the BCS defense made great defensive plays. Brock would strike out 5 batters in his five innings, while Collins struck out two batters in two innings. Lawson had the strongest night at the plate, going 1-2 with a walk and driving in the only earned run of the evening for the Blazers. The Blazers will play their next game against the Gulf Coast HEAT Tuesday evening after Easter break at home at 7pm.
