The SCS baseball team was able to come away with a 16-15 win on Tuesday Night. The Offense was a bright spot for the team on the night, but defensive mistakes were able to keep the Gulf Coast HEAT in the game. The game started with a quick five run inning for the HEAT to give them a 5-0 lead heading into the bottom of the first. A three run inning started off a run for the Blazers. The lineup came to life and scored 14 runs over three innings to give the team a 14-5 lead. However, the HEAT would not go away as they brought the game to a tie in the six. In the bottom half of the sixth,
Alex Hefti started off the inning getting on base the hard way by taking the first pitch in the shoulder. One pitch later, Hefti was in scoring position after easily stealing second base.
Randall Collins would come through by putting the ball into play towards the HEAT shortstop and got a tough hop off the grass that made its way past the shortstop and through to the outfield, allowing Hefti to score the going ahead run. Collins then came on to close out the game on 8 pitches, coming away with a Blazer playoff win and the first Blazer save of the season.
Justin Brock had a fantastic night at the plate, going 3-3 and reaching base on all 5 at bats, while scoring 4 runs. He now leads the team with a .397 batting average. The Blazers will face a very good ODA team tonight at ODA at 7 in the district semi final.
