The Blazers Varsity Baseball team came out strong against Bayshore on Tuesday evening, scoring 5 runs in the first two innings, to put the game away early against the Bruins and win 11-1.
Randall Collins was in dominant form, striking out 12 batters and giving up just four hits in five innings pitched for the win on the mound.
Evan Poznanski added two innings on the mound, striking out 2 batters and giving up just one hit. Poznanski was strong at the plate as well, going 2-3 with 2 walks, 2 stolen bases, 4 RBI's and a run scored.
Alex Hefti (2-3, 2 walks, 3 RBI's, 1 SB, and 1 run scored) and
Jace Mayer (2-3, 1 walk, 2 runs scored) added additional offense for the Blazers.
Justin Brock was a perfect 5-5 on the night, hitting 1-1 with 4 walks, scoring 3 runs and stealing 2 bases.
The win brings the Blazers to .500 (3-3) on the year. The win is Collins' 3rd of the year and brings him to 3-1. Collins has recorded 38 strikeouts over 18.1 innings on the mound, surrendering just 15 hits and 6 earned runs. For the Blazers at the plate, Poznanski is now hitting an even .500, with 10 hits and 4 walks in 24 plate appearances, scoring 7 runs and driving in 8, and Hefti is hitting a strong .421 with 8 hits and 2 walks in 25 plate appearances, scoring 8 runs and driving in 6.
The Blazers will be back in action on Thursday, at Cambridge Christian School (4-6) in Tampa, and at home on Friday against Bayshore Christian School (0-6).
