Tuesday night the Lady Blazers softball team hosted the Keswick Christian Crusaders on a night set apart to honor and celebrate the career of senior
Reese Scholl. The game started out slow offensively for the Lady Blazers, while the Crusaders capitalized on some free bases to lead by 5 runs after 2 innings. But the Lady Blazers would heat up in the next two innings, going on a 12-0 run to enter the 5th inning with a 7 run lead at 12-5. But the Crusaders weren't done yet and piled on another 9 runs of there own in the next two innings to take a 14-13 lead going into the final inning. The Lady Blazers found themselves with
Selah Spenn at third base and
Devoni McLaughlin at second, with two outs and the game on the line, when a pitch snuck past the Crusaders catcher. Spenn raced for home and tied the game up as the throw from the catcher got by the pitcher.
Devoni McLaughlin never slowed down as she rounded third base and bolted for home to score the winning run and give the Lady Blazers a 15-14 walk off victory on senior night.
The Lady Blazers take the field again at home on Thursday against the Lancers from Cambridge Christian at 4pm.
