The Lady Blazers Softball team came up short against Shorecrest Prep on Tuesday night, falling 0-12 to end the teams district run. Shorecrest got up early with a six run first inning and didn't look back as they scored six more in the next two innings before the game ended by run rule after the top of the fifth inning. The loss puts the Lady Blazers final season record at 7-11, 1-2 within the district. The Lady Blazers were led at the plate this year by
Selah Spenn with an incredible .560 batting average, 23 hits on 50 at bats, with 5 doubles, 1 triple, and 1 home run, while driving in 29 runs and scoring 30 herself. Spenn also led the team in stolen bases, stealing 33 out of 33 bases. Sophomores
Ashton Klinger and
Ella Aylsworth were both solid at the plate as well, hitting .475 & .469, while driving in a total of 55 runs, stealing a combined 61 bases on the season. Aylsworth led the team with 9 doubles. Senior
Reese Scholl had an impressive season at first base, anchoring the defense, while hitting a solid .460 with 36 RBIs, and 8 doubles. On the mound, it was a tough year for the Lady Blazers, but
Ashton Klinger earned 5 wins, striking out 32 batters over 46.2 innings.
Brooklyn Loftus battled with batters for 15 innings and struck out 12 batters in her 8th grade year, while
Devoni McLaughlin struck out 14 in 18.2 innings to complete her 7th grade year.
The Lady Blazers will miss Scholl as the four year senior graduates and heads on to college at Liberty University. We thank you for your dedication to building the SCS softball program.
