The Lady Blazers defeated the Panthers of Bradenton Christian on Tuesday night with a final score of 9-6. The Blazers recorded a team total of 11 hits, with
Brooklyn Loftus,
Giada Down,
Selah Spenn, and
Orchid Moli-Pouesi all recorded 2 hits a piece. Dakota Guerro brought home 2 RBI's. Spenn had a team high of 3 stolen bases. On the mound, Loftus pitched a complete game earning the win with 4 strikeouts.
The Blazers scored one in the first, but Bradenton Christian came right back in the bottom half of the inning to take a 2-1 lead. That lead held until the Blazers scored a pair of runs in the top of the 4th to take a one run lead. Bradenton Christian would counter with a run of their own to tie it at 3-3. The Blazers took their final lead of the game in the top of the 5th inning as they put together four runs to take the 7-3 lead.
Brooklyn Loftus would get it started with a walk before a
Giada Down bunt single and
Selah Spenn infield single would load the bases for
Kinsley Grieser. Grieser would take the first pitch before being hit with the second to score Loftus and take the lead. That would bring
Bralyn Yoder up to the plate. Yoder would ground out to the pitcher, but the play would result in Down scoring the insurance run for the Blazers to make it 5-3.
Dakota Guerrero would come up with one out and runners on second and third, grounding out to the shortstop on a play that would see both runners cross home plate and give the Blazers a four run lead. The Panthers would score one in the bottom half and then match the two runs that the Blazers would score in the top of the 6th, but the Blazers would hold on for the win. The Blazers played great defense as the Panthers would strand 10 base runners on the night.
The Lady Blazers next game is Friday, February 27th at Imagine School North Port.
