Lawson Throws No-Hitter As Blazers Improve to 5-6

The Blazer Baseball team went to battle last night against the Warriors of Ruskin Christian and Collin Lawson completed a 5 inning no-hit performance on the mound, striking out eleven Warrior batters and walking just four in the effort. The Blazers would score in every inning, starting off the game with three runs in the first inning and not looking back. The first inning started off with walks by Justin Brock and Evan Poznanski, then Will Papineau would come through with a 1-out RBI single that ended up scoring both runners after the center fielder had issues fielding the ball. Papineau would score on a passed ball to bring the Blazer lead to 3-0. The second inning began with a Jace Mayer single, followed by an error on a ground ball to third base that allowed Brock to reach first. Poznanski would blast a two run triple to the right-centerfield gap, sliding into third base just before the tag reached him. Papineau would deliver his second RBI single on a grounder up the middle to score Poznanski and send the game into the third inning with the Blazers at a 6-0 lead. The Blazers would strike for their biggest inning of the game in the third as they'd plate five runs in the inning, all with two outs. The Blazers got the inning started with a walk, error, and walk to load the bases for Blazer Senior Rowan Baum. Baum would find the hole in-between short and third to bring in Lawson. On the next pitch, Poznanski would clear the bases on a single to center field that scored Mayer and then a wild throw resulted in Baum and Brock both scoring as well. Poznanski would score the fifth run of the inning as Papineau would launch a deep fly ball to centerfield that would be dropped, allowing Poznanski to circle the bases and score. In the bottom of the fourth, the Blazers would put a cap on the game scoring an insurance run as Collin Lawson would single, steal second base and then score on Mayers second hit of the game to make it 12-0 Blazers. The Blazers were led by Poznanski going 2-2 in the game with 4 RBIs, Papineau going 2-3 in the game with 3 RBIs and Mayer going 2-3 with 1 RBI. In the field, the Blazers were perfect on the night, having a solid defensive night behind Lawson's no-hit performance.

The Blazers will head to Sarasota Military Academy on Thursday evening at 6pm for their second game against the Eagles. The Eagles took the first match-up in week one of the season by a score of 6-2.
